We zoeken een ervaren data scientist op het gebied van GenAI, die ervaring heeft met het ontwikkelen van (kleine) GenAI applicaties en in staat is om bij de diverse stakeholders de behoeften op te halen.
(Senior) Data Scientist GenAI Data & Insights FEC
Do you want to work at the forefront of AI innovation, driving impactful solutions, and transforming the way we fight financial economic crime? Are you curious and interested to share your acquired knowledge with others? If so, then please read on. You will become part of a new (started in March) GenAI team within the FEC Data & Insights area (D&I). The first months we focused on creating the product vision statement and decided on the topics of interest.
Topics of interest:
- Knowledge Sharing: Responsible GenAI for everyone. We aim to make GenAI a trusted and everyday tool. We do that by sharing practical knowledge, organizing hands-on workshops, and hosting inspiration sessions.
- GenAI Use Cases: GenAI beyond Microsoft Copilot. As a team, we initiate, advise on, and develop GenAI use cases from start (idea) to finish (production) across the D&I area.
- Unstructured data: Unstructured data is the fuel for GenAI applications. As an area, we are uniquely positioned to support GenAI initiatives across FEC Tech with unstructured data. How we are going to do that is yet to decide, but we will play a role in this important topic.
Your role
We hope you are someone who likes to make their mark since you will become the first dedicated data scientist in the team. As a result, you will act as the sparring partner to the product owner, taking on greater responsibility and helping to define our team’s strategy and ways of working.
What you will be doing
- Evaluate, create, and advise on GenAI cases: Within the bank we have a formal and rigorous process to go from idea to production. As an increasing number of D&I colleagues are coming up with ideas to leverage GenAI, it is your job to provide feedback on their ideas. When a use case has potential, you will provide guidance on how to navigate through the formal process. When we co-create or initiate a GenAI use case, you will act as project lead for that use case.
- Build GenAI use cases: You will develop, test and validate GenAI use cases in a dedicated Databricks environment using Microsoft Azure OpenAI services. At the start, the development work is mostly focused on proving the potential value of the use cases and building demos. However, as we bring more use cases to the “develop & test” phase, you are also expected to contribute to bringing use cases to production.
- Build demos: Demos are a powerful way to gather feedback and advance use cases. Dependent on the use case you will build chatbot interfaces, interactive tables or other relevant interfaces. Front-end skills are not required as we typically use Python frameworks to build these demos (e.g., Gradio or Streamlit).
- Prepare and give presentations and hands-on workshops: We believe anyone can benefit from GenAI, regardless of technical knowledge. For the non-technical colleagues, we focus on providing knowledge regarding Microsoft Copilot, while for more technical colleagues we focus on hands-on workshops and (mini) hackathons.
To summarize, this role requires a balance between technical and non-technical skills. You will spend approximately half of your time engaging with stakeholders, evaluating potential use cases, and developing presentations and hands-on workshops. The other half of your time will be dedicated to writing code and developing use cases and demos.
Where you will be working
We believe in the power of difference. Bringing together people's differences is what makes us an even better bank. So we are very curious about what you can bring to our team. Similar to the GenAI team, the area Data & Insights is also fairly new within FEC, as we only recently celebrated our first birthday. The GenAI team is part of the subarea data, which aims to become the trusted partner for centralized, consistent, reliable, and future-proof data for FEC. We have ambitious goals, a growth mindset and we have an open, informal and inclusive culture where we help each other within an agile (scrum) way of working. We work hybrid, with one or two days in the office a week, currently usually on Mondays.
Working together is the way we work; as one data-minded team at Rabobank. Talking of Rabobank: we are a Dutch bank that operates in 37 countries. We have 9.1 million customers in the Netherlands. Together with these customers, our members and partners we stand side by side to create a world in which everyone has access to enough healthy food. In the Netherlands we work to create a country in which people are happy with how they live, work and do business.
What you bring to the table
- Academic working and thinking level and typically a background with a strong quantitative component.
- At least five years of hands-on experience as a data scientist. You are comfortable with Python and version control.
- Experience building (small) GenAI applications (e.g., with Gradio or Streamlit)
- You understand what happens “under the hood” of popular GenAI frameworks like LangChain or OpenAI Agents SDK.
- You understand the drawbacks of LLMs, and how to mitigate them.
- Experience with project- and stakeholder management, you know how to start and finish a data science project. Furthermore, you are able to communicate on the technical- and managerial level.
- Strong communicator who can convey complex topics to a non-technical audience in an understandable and engaging manner.
- Enjoys creating and giving presentations and workshops.
- You communicate well in the English language (both spoken and written)
