Freelancer – Internal Communications & Change Manager (Interim) Rabobank, Wholesale Banking in Europe, Africa & Asia Marketing & Communications

Period: March 4, 2025 – August 29, 2025 Hours: 36 hours per week


Location: Utrecht (hybrid: 2 days per week in the office)


Language Requirement: Native Dutch speaker required and near-native English
Key Objectives This is a hands-on role that requires both strategic oversight and direct execution of communication initiatives.
The freelancer will be responsible for developing, writing, and distributing key content, coordinating stakeholder engagement, and ensuring timely delivery of communication activities.


• Ensure the success of the cascade model from CEO to employee communications, delivering strategic business updates once per quarter via town halls, newsletters, CEO video messaging, and intranet (SharePoint-based)


• Develop and distribute inspirational employee stories aligned with the company mission and key messages, ensuring audience-specific distribution across intranet, LinkedIn, and website • Launch and implement a narrowcasting system in the region, establishing governance for content management and maintaining a consistent and engaging flow of communications


• Plan and coordinate the internal branding program as part of the project team, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic priorities
• Work closely with senior leaders, HR, and other internal stakeholders to ensure communication efforts are effective and aligned

SMART Objectives
• Successfully execute quarterly town halls in the region
• Deliver bi-weekly employer branding stories across internal and external platforms
• Maintain a structured content calendar across all communication channels
• Measure and report on communication effectiveness through key metrics Required Expertise
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in employee and leadership communications within international organizations
• Strong editorial and content planning skills, with the ability to personally draft, edit, and produce high-quality communication materials
• Experience in executive communications, including messaging for senior leadership
• Proficiency with SharePoint and other internal communication platforms
• Ability to navigate and collaborate within matrix organizations, working across different functions and geographies
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage senior leadership, HR, and employees to refine communication strategies
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in Dutch (native) and English (near-native) Guidelines for the Freelancer
• Provide regular progress updates and ensure final deliverables are approved by the Head of Marketing & Communications
• Drive communication initiatives independently while actively collaborating with senior leadership, HR, and functional teams to ensure engagement and alignment across Europe, Africa, and Asia

 • Maintain accountability for execution, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of communication activities Work Flexibility The freelancer can independently set working hours and location, as long as the expected results are met.
