As Director of Industrial Relations Netherlands you will be reporting to the Vice President of Industrial Relations who has the responsibility for all IR departments in the group. In this role you will become a Management Team member of Industrial Relations. A part of the role is also to be the HR country representative in the Netherlands, by being the point of contact for general HR topics related to Vattenfall N.V. and to address them at the right responsibility outside the IR department.
The main purpose of the position is to ensure that Industrial Relations Netherlands with constructive cooperation, co-determination and legal advice enable the business to fulfill strategies, meet targets and achieve necessary measures and development.
Furthermore, this position will focus on the cooperation/ relationship towards different stakeholder groups; incl. works council/unions in the Netherlands. In total IR Netherlands has approximately 10 employees. Besides the 3 lawyers for the primary IR work 2 colleagues work for the Employability Centre, and 2 colleagues work for Social Projects including the Vattenfall N.V. Foundation, and 3 colleagues work for works council support. The Employability Centre, Social Projects and Works Council Support are part of IR Netherlands team.
Key responsibilities:
• Responsible for policies and strategies relating to Industrial Relations and implementation thereof and guarantee that Vattenfall acts in accordance with current legislation and collective agreements;
• Ensure constructive cooperation with internal and external stakeholders, as the Business Areas, Staff Functions, Supervisory Board, Board of Management and Employers Association;
• Lead or participate in collective labor agreement negotiations;
• Ensure strategy and qualitative approach in Employability Centre Netherlands in finding long-term solutions for redundant employees and implementation thereof;
• Ensure strategy and qualitative approach of Social Projects Netherlands’ supporting the business needs and purpose while being compliant with “quotom” law;
An important role next to leading the IR team is being the HR country representative. In this role you are attending the Management Board of Vattenfall N.V.. You are responsible for all HR topics that do not have a clear ownership within one single Centre of Excellence within HR and has a country overall importance. Ensure follow-up and decisions on HR topics relevant for the Netherlands and ensure that HR topics are transferred to the right HR resources.
You are HR’s single point of contact towards the Country Manager (CEO) in such topics. You also represent Vattenfall as a HR representative externally in the Netherlands when appropriate.
Professional and personal characteristics:
As our Head of Industrial Relations you will bring the following qualifications:
• (Law) Degree from university in the Netherlands or other relevant university degree;
• Broad experience as a manager within HR;
• Experience in high quality Industrial Relations consulting to employers including knowledge in labor law, social security and pensions;
• Experience in negotiations with unions/works council;
• Several years of experience in an international environment and intercultural understanding;
• Experience of working in a matrix organization with political complexity;
• Fluent skills in Dutch and English, both verbally and written;
