Title: Senior Process engineer for Plant change and Project development

Management of Change (MOC)
Acting in an assurance/approver role within the Management of Change process.
Participating in process safety studies during design, start-up, or 5-year reviews for Safeguarding Memoranda and HAZOP studies.

Project Development
Conducting scouting and feasibility studies based on proposals from operations.
Developing projects through the ASSESS/SELECT/DEFINE phases, in collaboration with contractors and ensuring alignment and support from the asset owner.
Familiarity with Shell’s Project Management and delivery process is an advantage.
Supporting construction and commissioning phases.
Ensuring proper implementation and performance when integrated into existing operational units.

Unit Support
Contributing to the process integrity of installations and systems to ensure safe, environmentally compliant, reliable, and profitable operations.
Supporting the preparation and execution of unit turnarounds; providing troubleshooting support during start-up.
Updating safeguarding memoranda for existing units, including definition and verification of pressure relief scenarios and sizing calculations for relief valves.
Previous experience as a unit technologist or process engineer in a refinery or chemical site is a strong asset.


Qualifications:

Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Academic working and thinking level, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
Background in process engineering or process safety design, ideally obtained at engineering contractors.
Solid knowledge of refining processes.

* Can manage a diverse workload with varying timelines, urgency levels, interdependencies, and stakeholder involvement.
* Works independently and proactively; navigates effectively within a complex refinery environment.
* Collaborates closely with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, and other Engineering disciplines to ensure effective communication and resolution of process-related issues.
* Takes initiative and leads when necessary in resolving issues requiring process engineering expertise.
* Ensures that all process engineering activities comply with Shell Group and governmental regulations.
* Has strong communication skills and is capable of working effectively with external stakeholders (e.g., clients, engineering contractors).
* Is fluent in English or Dutch, with good working knowledge of the other language.
* Has prior experience in manufacturing environments, process engineering, and project development.
* Must possess a valid VCA-VOL certificate before starting activities (due to required site visits).
* Familiar with relevant codes and standards (API, RTOD, ASME, PED); knowledge of Shell DEP standards and Dutch regulations is an advantage.
* Proficient in using process simulation tools such as **PROII** for flash calculations and more complex simulations when needed.
* Able to review engineering documents for quality and completeness, identify issues, and propose creative solutions with a minimum technical scope approach.
* Flexible and proficient with IT systems and software.
* Physically fit to inspect constructions and process systems on-site and to detect visual and audible warning signals.
